Meet the Staff

Our staff members are the NCGA liaisons to the community, representing agricultural interests in Humboldt County through community partnerships that promote local and healthy foods and increase access to local food, participation in local and statewide policy-making, and are responsible for daily operations of the organization and our certified farmers’ markets. Staff operate out of our offices in Arcata.

Laura Hughes, Director of Market Operations

Through her work here as the Arcata Market Manager and as the Local Food Resources Coordinator for Food for People, Laura is committed to helping build a more just and sustainable food system. Laura loves working closely with our local farming community, and is an amazingly energetic and motivated member of the NCGA team. In her free time she enjoys playing the violin, city rec league softball, and spending time with her adorable dog Lucy at the river. 

 

David MacCuish, Eureka Market Manager, Arcata Plaza Assistant Manager

Dave manages the Henderson Center and Old Town Farmers' Markets in Eureka as well as the seasonal Winter Market in Arcata on the Plaza. David is known for his enthusiasm, flair, humor, and outgoing personality. When not working at a farmers' market he can be found taking care of his rabbit business, Buck and Daisy, or running from job to job designing websites and solving technical issues for many local businesses.  

 

        

Ivy Matheny North,  Director of Programs

Ivy oversees the organization's access and equity programs for low-income community members. She provides market manager support, website development, farmers' market promotions and advertisements, and has worked to help develop the Rx for Farmers' Market program in collaboration with our local Open Door Health Clinics. She comes to us with years of experience with non-profit program management, most recently completing 4 years managing Humboldt County's largest food pantry. She is a graduate of the Cascadia Leadership Program (2012) and the Small Farm Master Gardener Program (2013). 

 

Argelia Muñoz, Arcata Market Assistant Manager

Argie is very dedicated to her work as the Manager for the McKinleyville Farmers' Market as well as as an Assistant Manager for the Arcata Plaza Farmers' Market. With years of experience in complementary non-profit organizations, Argie is the perfect fit for this role. Argie is also the Gardens and Food Resource Assistant at Open Door Community Health Centers.

 

 

Board of Directors

NCGA Board of Directors meets monthly at our offices in Arcata. NCGA Board members and staff facilitate committees to develop specific areas of our operations and markets, member participation on committees is vital to the success of the organization! Current committees include: music selection, non-ag. & food court selection, rules and regulations, budget, outreach & advertising, weekday & winter market and the local farmer roundtable & networking event planning.
